"Why aren't the "Gold Rules for the Eco-Projects" insufficient to reach sustainable construction, but they can be "key" for sustainability?"

Prof. Biagio Giannetti

The "ten gold rules" of EcoDesign can be incorporated in the concept of EcoBuilding. Those rules are related to the minimization or elimination of toxic substances, reduction in the consumption of material energy and an increase in the useful life. The basic criteria of the "gold rules" are often contradictory. Normally, meeting the needs of one rule implies that the needs for the other rule will not be met. .

The conference of the designer Biagio presents an environmental sustainable model and from that conceptualization the metrics of sustainability will be discussed. The metrics allow the definition of the indicators that help the designer in EcoBuilding to make a decision.

Concepts that allow the Eco-designer to overcome the construction goal with an environmental awareness will be discussed. This will contribute to the goal of a construction that will contribute (in a scientifically proven way) towards the desired environmental sustainability of the biosphere.
